This sounds like how I first learned how to meditate!
Like I expanded into a big noisy loud "BAAAH" rotor-fan-sphere
that extinguished every thought that would come across it. :)
It actually felt like I was actively moving my sense of
"self/awareness" "into" any thought that would arise,
which blanked them out.
Later, I heard a theory that thoughts can only be observed
when we withdraw awareness from them. That idea synced well
with my experiences--that expanding awareness blanked
them out.
The way I do it now is merely to summon the actual
remembered feeling of focused mind, which to me is alot
about being aware in the whole physical body rather than
only the head.
Kindly,
Severian
